Wrestlers give support to trio of good causes

THE giants of the grappling game will be throwing their weight around next week, all in aid of good causes.

On Monday December 30, Worthing’s Assembly Hall will host the annual Wrestling Spectacular in conjunction with the Mayor of Worthing’s Charity Appeal.

The mayor of Worthing, Bob Smytherman, whose appeal this year is supporting the Alzheimer’s Society, Guild Care and Worthing & Arun Mind, is pictured with wrestling stars Mighty Atlas and Charlie Checkmate, getting in the mood to join the action at the town’s biggest show of the year.

Headlining the event will be the Wrestler of the Year and top international star Zack Sabre Jr.

Earlier this month, he partnered Yoshinari Ogawa to win Japan’s junior heavyweight tag team title.

The pair defeated the team of Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger and Tiger Mask in front of a packed crowd at the 10,000-capacity Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo.

The Wrestling Spectacular show at the Assembly Hall, which starts at 7.45pm, will feature the Worthing Trophy knockout tournament and a six-man, last man standing, tag team battle with an American rumble-style over-the-top-rope finish.
