THANKS to a large donation, Guild Care's Healthy Living Programme appeal has reached a £25,000 milestone.

Worthing REAC (Radio Emergency Activated Communications) has donated £1,000 to the appeal.

The Healthy Living Centre, based at Methold House, needs £100,000 to improve the lives of older people in Worthing, Adur and surrounding areas through well-being and fitness programmes.

REAC, a non-profit volunteer group, provides marshalling at road races, fun runs and carnivals as well as safety and security cover at firework events and fetes.

Suzanne Millard, chief executive of Guild Care, said: “Lynne Kennedy, REAC’s secretary, works in our home care department and we were pleasantly surprised that she nominated our Healthy Living Programme for a donation. We have currently raised over £25,000 for the appeal and are well on the way to reaching our target of £100,000.”

Another healthy cash boost of £1,200 was collected for Guild Care during a charity auction at the GreenHouse Charity Superstore, in Meadow Road, Worthing.

Items that went under the hammer included a trumpet, old Beanos, pictures, a box of model planes, a pair of skis china, swords, jewellery and some antique Singer sewing machines.
