The crew of a yacht which suffered engine failure were rescued by Newhaven Lifeboat on Sunday April 27.

The eight metre yacht had two people on board and had lost all power from its engine.

Its crew made their way to south of Newhaven Breakwater using their sails.

Newhaven Lifeboat was already in the area on a training exercise with the Coastguard helicopter.

It was dispatched to the yacht at 11.45am and established a tow.

The vessel was then safely taken into Newhaven Harbour and placed on the visitors’ berth in the marina.

The lifeboat then returned to station and was again ready for service at 12.55pm.
