Yapton schoolchildren look to the future with national award

A NATIONAL award proves Yapton's young pupils are thinking about their careers.

The village’s primary school has joined a select group who have received the Investors in Careers Award. Presented by the Babcock International Group it recognises excellence in career-related learning.

Headteacher Mary Ramacciotti said: “I am so proud of the staff and the children. I understand that only three primary schools in West Sussex have achieved this award and we are one of them.”

The award plaque was presented at a special assembly arranged by the children to show their understanding of learning linked to careers.

County councillor Christina Coleman said: “This has been a wonderful occasion. The children sang and acted beautifully.”

A panel of three judged the school’s case and matters they looked at included the transition process between the school and Westergate Community School.
