Years go by for day centre

MANY of Bexhill's senior citizens have and still are enjoying the friendly and sociable atmosphere to be found at the Clifford Road Day Centre, part of the Beulah Baptist Church, which last Thursday, April 7, celebrated its 30th year as part of the town's fabric.

Open daily from 9.30am to 3pm, it provides an opportunity for older people to drop in for a chat, a cup- of tea or coffee, perhaps a meal and maybe a game of bowls or doing some knitting.

For all but eight months of its existence the centre has been run by Phyllis Warburton and for the last five Joan Reigh has been her deputy. Joan said: “It’s a real pleasure to see folk enjoying themselves and to be part of such a friendly crowd.

“For our celebration several founder members were invited to attend, including one lady who has been coming along week in, week out throughout the past three decades.”
