Yet another shop may be turned into flats in Newhaven town centre

Another shop in Newhaven town centre could be turned into housing if Lewes District Council gives the scheme the green light.

The applicant, Ian Bickerstaff, has applied to the council for planning permission to change the use of the site from retail building to domestic accommodation at 15 Bridge Street.

He has asked for permission to build a second storey to create six residential units.

The design and access statement from the applicant on the council’s website said the second storey would make the building the same height as number 13 Bridge Street.

The council’s planning committee will have the final say on the scheme.
