Yobs drop stones on car from by-pass

A SERIOUS accident was narrowly avoided when hooligans dropped stones onto fast-moving traffic on the A27.

One lady driver had her windscreen smashed as she drove under the C7 flyover at Lewes where the youths were throwing stones from above.

PC James Vitler from Lewes Police Station: 'When the female driver approached the C7 flyover bridge to pass underneath, she saw approximately two or three youths aged between 14 to 18 years old, on the bridge.

'The youths appeared to be throwing stones down onto the cars below.

'As she passed under the bridge, a stone hit her windscreen and causing a 2-3 cm crack.

'Due to the nature of the road, the speed of vehicles and the potential for serious injury we are very keen to find out more about this and speak to witnesses'

The incident happened just after 4pm on January 22 and the car was travelling east.
