Young author brings fantasy alive to pupils at Bishop Tufnell

Evil pirates, creepy creatures and scary schoolteachers have been brought alive at a Felpham school.

Author Luke Temple captured the imaginations of Bishop Tufnell CoE Junior School pupils with his first book, Stormy Cliff. Interactive drama, singing and dancing ignited their excitement about reading and writing.

Only 20 years old, West Sussex resident Luke wrote the book two years ago while he was still a student.

"It all began with the simple idea of a rundown school on a small island that needed a lot of money to save it," he said.

Six months of hard work saw him complete the first draft. Stormy Cliff follows the epic journey of very different 11-year-olds, Ben and Harriet, on a mission to find treasure for their school.

Luke has enjoyed great success since his book was published last September. He has given more than 50 presentations and workshops. Bishop Tufnell was one of ten schools he visiting during his current tour around Bognor Regis and Chichester.

But he has still found time to begin work on his second book. He will be reading exclusive extracts from it at Waterstone's in Chichester at 4.30pm on March 10 and 11 as well as signing copies of Stormy Cliff.
