Young Uckfield fliers receive awards

THE UCKFIELD branch of the Royal British Legion presented awards to members of the 2530 Uckfield Squadron Air Training Corps on July 12 to mark the Squadron becoming an affiliated

member of the RBL. The evening at the Cinque Ports Club began with an exhortation from branch chairman Eric Osborne BEM. He welcomed 23 cadets, their officer and 20 further guests including Uckfield Mayor Cllr John Carvey, RBL County Manager Canon Peter Bruinvels FRSA and RBL fundraiser Sally Harrild.

Vice chairman David Firth invited the Mayor to present the Certificate of Affiliation to Warrant Officer Alan Mitchell, deputising for the Officer Commanding. Cllr Carvey also presented RBL Awards of Endeavour to cadets Allan, Batstone, Baxter, Sergeant Campbell, Cadets Castile, Crees, Harris, Musto, Sergeant Rosling and Cadets Tate, Taylor and Wilce.

A Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to Warrant Officer Mitchell. The evening ended with a closing address by the branch chairman and a buffet supplied by the Club.
