Young woman's journey to help orphans

A young woman has travelled to Ghana to work in an orphanage for five months

Melinda Breeds,19, from Framfield will be a carer and teacher for children. Many have been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.

The orpanage is home to the poorest young people and is badly funded.

Melinda, a former pupils at St Philip's Catholic School and Uckfield Community Technology College, is taking part in a voluntary project with the Changing Worlds Organisation

Parker Building Supplies, where Melinda's mother Debbie works, has donated stationery to assist the orphanage children as teaching materials are in short supply.

Wealden Colts Football Club, where Melinda previously played for the girls' team managed by her father Laurie, has donated football equipment.
