Your chance to be a Glyndebourne star

DO YOU have what it takes to make your mark on Glyndebourne’s main stage?

In March 2013 Glyndebourne is staging the premiere of Imago, its next large-scale community opera and the hunt is now on for a host of talented local people to join the cast.

Glyndebourne is searching for 50 young people aged 16 and over, plus 30 adults up to the age of 80 to make their mark alongside a professional cast.

Auditions for the community chorus take place from September 29 to October 7.

The team behind the production is focussed on developing rather than establishing talent; they are searching for people with existing levels of skill and experience on a stage – whether that’s school or college theatre or experience with amateur dramatics at any age.

Imago also features a range of solo roles for talented amateur singers with auditions on Saturday 13 October. To register your place at any Imago audition simply email:

Fresh from her success designing the Olympic closing ceremony and Kanye West’s recent O2 concerts is Imago designer Es Devlin.

She and renowned director Susannah Waters have designed and developed this contemporary new opera examining inter-generational relationships in a digital landscape.

Susannah said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages from across Sussex to try their luck on the main stage at Glyndebourne; we have a breadth of roles on offer and are seeking talented voices and skilled performers who can add something extra to this engaging community opera.”

Designer Es Devlin said: “We are looking for adults and young people with a passion for music and theatre and have the availability to attend Imago’s structured rehearsal period from November 2012 – March 2013.

“There are some exciting soloist roles to fill and the chorus roles should be great fun.”

Glyndebourne is also keen to hear from any young instrumentalists (Grade 8+) interested in joining the Imago orchestra, working with the award-winning Aurora Orchestra.
