Your help is needed to save Littlehampton’s post office

A PETITION is being launched tomorrow (Saturday, April 6) by Littlehampton’s Labour Party in an effort to save the town’s post office in The Arcade.

The team is desperately urging for your support to preserve the Post Office from a possible closure.

The decision follows a protest by staff at the Arcade centre over the weekend.

The petitioners will be based outside the clock tower, in High Street, between 10.30am and noon, on Saturday.

Ham Ward Labour councillor Mike Northeast said that the loss of the post office would have a “devastating impact” on the traders in The Arcade.

“The fear is that nowhere else in the town centre is big enough to take the post office,” he said. “The only place large enough to accommodate it would be Tesco, in Broadpiece, which is well out of the town centre.

“It would have a devastating consequence on this end of the town and the traders in The Arcade.”

Labour supporter George O’Neill agreed that any move would have a detrimental impact. He said: “We are saying leave it where it is and invest on the interior so that everyday people do not have to queue out of the door in The Arcade, which just proves it is a very well used resource and does not deserve closure.”
