Your news: County Mall manager taking on two marathons

County Mall Shopping Centre Manager Mark Haynes, is jumping feet first into supporting St Catherine's Hospice, the Centre's nominated charity for 2017, by running not just one, but two mighty marathons' this spring!

Mark is taking on the challenge of running both the Brighton and London marathons to raise awareness and funds for St Catherine’s Hospice, and for a warm up, he and other St Catherine’s Hospice charity runners will be attempting to run 54 miles (the distance between London and Brighton) in County Mall Shopping Centre this Saturday, 18th March.

Shoppers are welcomed to come along and show their support to the runners, and to buy tickets for a raffle with great prizes to be won including: tickets to a show of the winner’s choice plus dinner for two at The Hawth Theatre; a signed Crawley Town FC shirt; a meal for two with Prosecco at Italian Kitchen, a bottle of champagne and other prizes donated by County Mall retailers.

Last year, St Catherine’s cared for more than 2,000 people and their family and friends. Offering practical and emotional support, the hospice’s expert care is free to local people, but with less than a third of its running costs coming from the NHS, St Catherine’s relies on the generosity and support of the local community.

The Brighton Marathon is on Sunday 9th April and the Virgin Money London Marathon on Sunday 23rd April.

Centre Manager, Mark Haynes, commented: “I’m happy to be putting myself through this double challenge for such a worthy cause. As County Mall’s nominated charity, anything we can do to raise awareness for St. Catherine’s Hospice is immensely satisfying, and we hope to get lots of support from our shoppers this Saturday. I’d like to additionally thank all the retailers who have contributed to the superb raffle prizes we have to offer.”
