Brexit: the more Theresa May tries to unite the country, the more it divides

Clearly, the opinions that the vote uncovered were always there but now sides have been taken.

Politician vs politician (even in the same party), work colleagues vs work colleagues, friend vs friend, family member vs family member, this is the reality.

Between dire predictions of the future and misinformation of the present, it is no wonder that the biggest casualty is the truth. People believe opposite things because that is their truth.

The more anyone tries to change someone’s viewpoint with information or reasoned argument, the more that is derided. Nobody checks for themselves. Nobody is believed.

Mrs May touring the country saying she had a deal which “would unite the country” was, at best, wishful thinking, and at worst setting up even more divisions.

Remainers don’t want to know, obviously, but she now has some leavers saying the deal is not good enough. Unite the country?

Whatever happens is that the divisions will remain.
