Bygrave encounter

AS a former photographer on the SE&CH from 1944-1958 I recall photographing Max Bygrave, who has just died in Australia, when he opened a Catholic Church fete in Lewes.

Afterwards, in the VIP tent, he saw a tape recorder and started to sing his famous hit Gilli, Gilli etc (?) with his daughter Maxine, who was about 3 at the time.

She is now 61 and used to live in North Way as an adult, I believe I am right in saying.

Actually I recalled the story in my book Me Peter. Ask Pete Burges, who has a copy. Pete joined the company when I was doing my National Service.
