Embarrassing amount of litter and dead weeds across our county

In last week’s paper I read with interest the two articles about the A27.

One to make it dual carriageway and the other about the litter on it. Also the dead black thistles/stinging nettles are horrible.

I think the pressing issue is the litter.

We live in a beautiful part of the world but the road leading along the foot of the Downs is a disgrace in terms of the litter and the dead weeds.

I am sure car drivers get the blame but the litter is actually coming off rubbish trucks and dust carts.

I do not accept that it can’t be cleaned up because its too dangerous although that is true for some parts.

In other parts there are footpaths and large verges which could be sorted out.

Please can the Sussex Express bring the issue to the front pages to try and create some action to solve the problem.

I think East Sussex County Council, Highways England and whoever else is responsible are neglecting their duty.

It is an embarrassing issue for Sussex.
