Almost in the same post was a leaflet from Friends of Lewes explaining their Lewes Urban Arboretum project.
Hurrah for trees and cheers that Lewes has a southern bypass and that east-west traffic (Brighton to Eastbourne and back) does not go through Lewes as originally planned.
John Eccles (and many of your readers) will recall how close Lewes came to being two towns, Lewes North and Lewes South, separated by a motorway.
