As an interested party, I’ve just received notification of “recommended modifications” to our Neighbourhood Plan - and what a triumph of legal obfuscation it is!
There’s no need for Lewes District Council to hide things like this in locked filing cabinets behind signs saying “Beware of the Leopard” (Sussex Express letters pages, passim) when documents such as this are so densely opaque as to be totally unintellible to average layman taxpayers, most of whom left school before they were twenty-one.
(Nobby Clark did his best for those of us who survived five years of his benevolent dictatorship at Ringmer Secondary School, God bless him.
A fine headmaster, lovely bloke, ex-Lancaster pilot – but his best endeavours couldn’t prepare us for such weaselly bureaucratic obscurantism.)
But I note that an amendment to Section / Policy 9.12 (“now Policy 8.12 and Community Action 8.12”) states that “Ringmer Parish Council will seek to improve sustainability and avoid unnecessary travel contributing to poor air quality in Lewes by facilitating new arrangements for the local recycling of garden waste and constructions waste.”
Typical - it’s all about Lewes, isn’t it - what about everyone else’s air quality?
So LDC want us all to deal with our own rubbish because they intend to close the existing Household Waste site in Ham Lane next to the sewage works and then build on it!
I say no. Away with you, LDC.
Light and peace to the rest of you, though...
