LETTER: Council must improve road maintenance

East Sussex County Council is to be congratulated on attempting to reduce the number of traffic accidents on its roads by improving traffic calming measures.

It is appreciated that finance is tight but where roads have already been marked with red speed restriction signs and double white lines it should be assumed that these will always be maintained so as to be visible!

A few examples of this lack of maintenance in the Uckfield area can be seen on the A22 near the junction to the C3 in Nutley, the A272 approach road to Buxted and in the village itself and on Batts Bridge Road in Maresfield.

It would be helpful if the County Council could take action to rectify the situation before it is too late.
