ON the morning of February 22 I was taken to the Minor Injuries Unit at the Victoria Hospital after a fall which caused a gash on the scalp several inches long, bleeding profusely.
I was received with friendliness and courtesy, and above all with complete professionalism, and can only thank the nurses and doctor concerned.
During the past 60 years we have travelled extensively throughout the UK and Western Europe, and have experienced, either personally or through friends with whom we were travelling, hospitals in several different countries, and the ambience and treatment at the Vic was way up with the best.
We read and hear so many horror stories of the shortcomings of a few hospitals, especially concerning the aged, that it is only right that the excellent (which I am sure is typical of most of the NHS) should be both acknowledged and appreciated.
Lewes is fortunate to have such an excellent facility on the doorstep.
