Local history ‘not popular enough’ at Tourist Information Office

Brian Pugh is not alone is finding the Lewes Tourist Information Centre unwilling to stock books by local authors.

I long ago gave up trying to get it to stock my books on Lewes history.

The reason given was that they were not ‘popular’ enough.

One of the books rejected has just gone into a second edition.

I would contrast this attitude to that of the Tourist Office in Seaford which enthusiastically took on my Seaford anthology immediately it was published.

There are hardly any outlets for local authors’ books in Lewes and it is regrettable that the Tourist Information Centre is not more supportive.
