Looking down from the top of Baxter’s Field last week I was pleased to see solar panels on a number of roofs – evidence of people using green energy and perhaps an encouragement to others to do likewise.
Back home I found a letter in your pages (6 April) complaining about those very panels. I know we’re in a conservation area.
Obviously the panels are modern, but they are not there for decoration. They are necessary for a new technology which will help to save our environment from much more serious disfigurement.
We risk leaving our children an impoverished, disfigured world as a result of our greedy and careless use of the earth’s resources. We cannot afford to oppose instruments that help to provide the energy which our lifestyle demands.
