Thanks for generous contributions

I would like to thank all those who so generously contributed to Citizens Advice 1066’s recent fundraising at Sainbury’s in Hastings and Tesco in Bexhill. Together these collections raised the impressive sum of £930.

It must have been quite a sight for weary shoppers focused on getting home to be met by a team of cheery volunteers in eye-wateringly bright yellow CAB tee shirts hoping for their donations. Aside from the many appreciative comments people made, one of the things that really struck us was how many said: “I never knew you were a charity!”

Yes it’s true - along with other bureaux around the country, Citizens Advice 1066 is an independent charity which receives no financial support from central Government. Instead we rely on donations from the local community to help us in providing a free, confidential, independent and impartial advice service to the people of Hastings and Rother.

And it really does make a difference. Last year alone we helped more than 5,000 local residents to solve some of the most serious issues facing people today, from mounting debts to problems with housing, benefit entitlement, employment and relationship breakdown.

Your donations will help us to continue offering this vital service into the future.

Your local bureau is based at the Advice and Community Hub, Renaissance House, London Road, St Leonards. If you have a problem that is worrying you, you can get advice or submit an enquiry online by visiting and following the links ‘Adviceguide’ and ‘Online Advice’.

For those needing face-to-face help, the bureau offers drop-in interviews between 9am-4pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 9am-12.30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Telephone advice is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1pm-4pm on 01424 721420.
