Since 2010 the Government has allowed the train companies to hit passengers across Sussex with massive fare rises of over 20 per cent.
For example, a season ticket for passengers from London to Brighton has gone up by 24 per cent from £3,556 to £4,408, an increase of £852.
This latest fare rise came into effect on January 2.
Across Sussex, people are already struggling with the rising cost of living under this Government. Forcing people to pay more to travel on trains that are frequently delayed and overcrowded to get to work, is not acceptable.
Only Labour will give passengers a voice in how the railways are run and only Labour will stop passengers getting fleeced at ticketing machines by making it a legal right for passengers to be sold the cheapest available ticket for their journey.
