I SUPPORT wholeheartedly Julian Dawson’s views on parking (letters, July 27). I visited Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh last week, two of the chief tourist centres in the Cotswolds, on a hot, sunny July day.
I was able to park in the main street on both towns for two hours, for free. As a tourist I felt wanted, I spent time and I spent money. Why are Lewes District Council and ESCC so short-sighted and unimaginative on this matter – or are they utterly in thrall to NCP and the contract?
If the Cotswolds can do it, now that we’re in the National Park, why can’t we?
