I notice that retirement villages are advertising their latest plans for Gradwell Park.
At the public exhibition held at Chailey Village Hall earlier this year, the company’s leaflet stated that “…when we invest in communities we wish to do so with the goodwill of the community”.
This is an extraordinary assertion to make in the light of all the objections, which have been raised over the past five years to the two previous applications, and retirement villages’ current activities do nothing whatsoever to engender “the goodwill of the community”.
Chailey, East Chiltington, Hamsey and Plumpton Parish Councils have all objected to retirement villages’ proposals.
They are unsustainable, totally inappropriate for the location, and affordable by only the wealthy.
