In the early hours of Saturday morning the sea at Seaford invaded Marine Parade, rushing under the railway bridge and ending up near the junction with the A259.
The council was informed but it was left to home owners nearby to clear the drains of seaweed in an attempt to reduce the flooding.
Large areas of the road alongside the promenade were covered in pebbles causing problems for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians. No attempt has been made to restore them to the beach.
Warnings were given of the severe storm due on Friday night and it is common knowledge that the beach at Seaford is currently vulnerable.
Why did the authorities not monitor the situation along the seafront on Saturday morning and clear up the debris?
