Youth arrested following attacks on women

POLICE have arrested and bailed a youth following attacks on women in Ferring and Goring.

The youth was arrested on suspicion of common assault, sexual assault, attempted robbery and a public order offence for incidents involving four women last Thursday and Friday.

He has been interviewed and released on bail until Tuesday while enquiries continue.

Three of the incidents happened in Ferring on last Thursday between 2.20pm and 3.10pm, and involved a 20-year-old woman reporting being followed; a 19-year-old woman being assaulted when leaving public toilets on the village green and a 36-year-old woman being grabbed from behind after sexual remarks were made to her.

The following day an attempt was made to snatch a 15-year-old girl’s bag as she was walking near Goring railway station.
