Youth charity narrowly misses out in National Lottery Awards

Founded four years ago by Battle schoolboy Luke Lancaster, then aged 12, the Be Healthy programme is a practical set of skills which enables young people to be more confident and understand how to have a healthy lifestyle. It trains young people to become Be Healthy trainers who in turn work with young people to help them understand how they can take positive action and avoid harmful choices.

It was shortlisted from hundreds of Good Causes and voted for by the public in the annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery funded projects.

Young Pioneers’ Be Healthy was beaten in the final round by Bogside and Brandywell Health Forum, a healthy living centre in Northern Ireland.

Representatives from Be Healthy will attend an awards ceremony in London on December 8 which will be shown on BBC One. Be Healthy received more than 2,900 votes in the final round of voting.
