A catering company in Laughton expanded its business and created 25 new jobs with the help of more than £160,000 of funding.

Locate East Sussex helped Zebedee’s Lunch Box to secure funding from the Regional Growth Fund on two occasions.

Zebedee’s Lunch Box started in 1998 and supplies nursery and primary schools with meals.

Company director Philip Oates said: “Without the help of Locate East Sussex we would not have been able to expand our business and successfully keep up with the growing demand we face.

“We are now expecting our business to grow further and win customers throughout East Sussex and beyond.”

Locate East Sussex is funded by the county, district and borough councils of East Sussex, and services are delivered at no cost to growing enterprises in the county.

The first award of £87,500 was made in July 2014 and the second of £82,500 was agreed in December 2014. As a result, 25 new jobs are being created, 15 of which have been filled.

Money will be used to develop an unused mezzanine area and also to install a new storage mezzanine.

Funding has already enabled the company to expand its offices, improve kitchen equipment and add to its vehicle fleet, as well as appoint a facility manager and fleet manager to deal with the growing premises and vehicle fleet.
