A baby carrier has been withdrawn from sale following the discovery that some items had a faulty clip which could cause parents to drop their baby.

The manufacturers of the Red Kite three-way carrier are advising anyone who owns one to stop using it immediately.

The baby carriers were sold online at Tesco, Asda and Amazon for around £15.

The carrier should be capable of holding babies of up to 12kg, but the faulty clip means here is a danger of the infant falling.

The products in question were sold between November 2017 and April 2018, and have batch codes of RK 2899, RK 2900, RK 2901 and RK 3003.

In the recall notice by Trading Standards, the makers of the carriers said: "We have become aware that some 3 Way Carriers from the above mentioned batches may have a manufacturing defect.

"This defect can cause the clips to fail and poses a risk to the user of the product."

Anyone owning a carrier from one of the batches in question should stop using it immediately and contact Red Kite - proof of purchase will be required - on 01454 326568.

Phone lines are open Monday to Friday from 9am - 5pm.
