Brighton revealed as city where you’re most likely to meet a ghost this Halloween!
Below, Marianne Sparks, travel expert and owner of European Waterways, explains exactly why Brighton and Hove came out on top:
“Brighton and Hove, a quintessentially British seaside destination, is recognised not only for its vibrant arts scene and historic pier but also for its paranormal connections. With a hugely rich history, the city is home to a number of eerie tales and ghostly sightings which continue to spook both locals and visitors alike.

Over the years, staff and guests have reported sightings of a mysterious woman in a flowing white dress. Legend has it that she is the ghost Maria Fitzherbert, King George’s secret wife, who still roams the palace, longing for the love she lost. Shadowy figures have also been seen in the Pavilion’s tunnels.

“Another spooky spot is Preston Manor, a grand Edwardian house with a reputation for paranormal activity. Preston Manor is believed to be home to several spirits, including the ghost of a nun whose skeleton was supposedly found bricked up within the walls. Recent visitors to the property have reported inexplicable sounds, freezing temperatures and objects moving on their own.
“Brighton’s iconic Theatre Royal is also rumoured to be haunted. The Grey Lady, a ghost believed to be the spirit of a former actress, is frequently seen sitting quietly in the audience or wandering around backstage.
“From eerie encounters at historic homes to ghostly apparitions in public spaces, Brighton and Hove remain a must-visit for paranormal enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike. Visit this Halloween if you dare!”
