These are the 7 best games releasing on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in February

With Christmas still in recent memory, and most people's wallets expunged by the glut of big releases just before the festive season, February is a little light on blockbuster game releases.

That being said, there are still plenty of smaller, more interesting titles to check out, and we've rounded up seven of the best in this guide.

Here's what to look out for this month:

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Tactics

PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One

What is it? Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance comes to life in this tactical strategy game that lets fans experience the fantasy world of Thra by playing through – and beyond – the events of the series.

Players will encounter never-seen-before characters, stories, and environments over the course of 80 unique turn-based campaign battles taking place across the world of Thra, and recruit new allies and customise their forces by assigning them jobs and outfitting them with new equipment.

What is it? ScourgeBringer is a fast-paced free-moving platformer, in which you help Kyhra explore the unknown and slash her way through ancient machines guarding the seal of her past.

Taking cues from the critically acclaimed platformer Celeste, ScourgeBringer has you running, jumping and dashing across levels, taking out enemies along your way.

It looks as if it will require the split-second reflexes of that game, and with a similar art-style, this is one indie game that will help fill the whole left by the adventures of Madeleine.

Dreams

PS4

What is it? Part video game, part tool for making video games, Dreams could be the talk of the gaming world for years to come if its creators manage to pull off their vision for a "creative social network".

Dreams is being described as a "sandbox" video game, a title that allows players the absolute freedom to do what they want.

That means that while the game does include elements and levels designed by its creators for you to play, the real fun comes from designing your own experiences and sharing them with players around the world.

What is it? An unabashed spiritual successor to the great Theme Hospital, if you ever delighted in popping and re-inflating virtual heads back in the '90s, this one is for you.

While some modern 're-imaginings' of classic games can miss the mark, this is not one of them.

It perfectly recaptures the sheer eccentric joy of Bullfrog's anarchic hospital management sim (complete with a fresh array of zany illnesses to cure), while also throwing a few new touches into the mix.

It's coming to consoles for the first time in February having been available on PC for a couple of years.
