These are the Easter eggs that give you the most chocolate for your money

With the Easter weekend on the horizon, there is still time to shop for Easter eggs. But which treats you the most chocolate for your money?

It's the question that any chocoholic would love the answer to. Now, thanks to a new report from Voucher Codes, it can be revealed that the Cadbury Mini Eggs medium Easter egg provides the best value for money.

The best value Easter treats

Research from the savings site cross-referenced the cost and weight of popular Easter eggs sold online at four of the UK’s biggest supermarkets to find the best value egg on offer.

Of those analysed, Cadbury Mini Eggs medium Easter egg (130g) provides the most chocolate for your money at only 87p per 100g, based on an average cost of £1.13 taken across Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury's and Morrisons.

Galaxy Minstrels large Easter egg follows close behind, containing a chocolate egg and two packets of Minstrels weighing 262g in total.

At £3.50 on average across the supermarkets analysed, the egg costs £1.34 per 100g. Similarly, Kit Kat Chunky large egg and Cadbury Creme Egg large egg both cost £3.50 on average, equating to £1.35 and £1.36 per 100g of chocolate, respectively.

Smarties Milk Chocolate Incredible Easter Egg (470g) and Lindt Golden Bunny Egg (460g) both provide nearly 50 per cent more chocolate than other eggs analysed, however, they are also more expensive per 100g.

Containing a giant chocolate egg and a sharing bag of Smarties Mini Eggs, the former comes in at £1.90 per 100g of chocolate, while Lindt is £1.85 per 100g and includes a chocolate egg and two iconic Lindt Gold Bunnies.

However, at the top end of the scale, the Ferrero Rocher Easter Egg (275g) - complete with a chocolate egg and six individual Ferrero Rocher chocolates - was found to be the worst value for money by a considerable distance.

Priced at £10.75 on average, the cost per 100g is calculated as £3.91. This is despite the egg only containing 13g less chocolate than the Galaxy Minstrels Easter Egg, the second-best value egg, which could save chocolate lovers £2.57 per 100g of chocolate and a huge £7.25 per Easter egg.
