Organised by TL Sports Events, the seventh staging of the popular annual event will be held over a fast, flat course of three 7k loops, all on the promenade and nearby roads.

The race will start outside Coast Bar & Grill on De La Warr Parade and runners will head west along Bexhill seafront before moving onto the lower promenade. They will then turn and head back to the start via Richmond Avenue and The Polegrove before repeating the route twice more.

The half marathon and a separate quarter marathon will get underway at 12.30pm, with a 5k race at around 10.30am. The children’s races will set off at 12noon and these are the only races that can be entered on the day.

The races will be preceded by a two-minute silence and there will be a singing of the national anthem by local X Factor star Hannah Bradbeer.

Registration will take place tonight from 6-8pm and tomorrow from 8-11.30am in the Coast Bar & Grill function suite.

The winning male and female in the half marathon will receive £100 each, with cash prizes down to fifth. The leading male and female runner in the quarter marathon will earn £40 apiece.

In addition to supporting the Royal British Legion, nearly £1,000 has been raised for the “Help the Wounded Royal Marines” charity.
