Adur reach Denny semi-finals

IT HAS been an outstanding last week for Adur Indoor Bowling Club. Their men are through to the semi-finals of the Denny Plate and their women's team are into the quarter-finals of the Vivienne Trophy.

On top of that, the men have virtually retained the Sussex Indoor League title they won last year and John Godfrey has won the area Champion of Champions.

In the Denny Plate quarter-finals at Chelmsford, Adur defeated Acle, from Norwich, 93-73. Victory in that match was mainly achieved by the rink of John Godfrey, Dave Cornwell, Roy Bainbridge and Pat Flood, who won 28-6.

Dave Hubbard's rink also won, 23-21 but Leigh Price's four went down 22-19 and Terry Stevens' four lost 24-23.

Adur will now play Leicester in the semi-final at Potters on Saturday March 17 (2.30pm). If Adur win, they will play the final the following day against either Hull or Peterborough (9.30am). Leicester won their quarter-final match, 92-45 against Plymouth CS.
