Aiming for glory in the regionals

A SWITCH from three-day eventing to dressage has set West Sussex rider Joanne Price off on the championship trail with her talented horse Simmonds Dream.

After qualifying for the Regional Novice Championships last year, their first affiliated season, they gained a wild card for the National Championships. But a suspected outbreak of strangles in the yard where they are based, meant they were unable to go.

Joanne, who lives in Worthing, said:" Last year we won three novices and qualified for the Regionals, only for him to rip off a shoe and bruise his foot shortly before. We were late leaving, because I had to make sure he was absolutely sound, and he still managed 70 per cent and second place."
