Alexia stars in England Euro triumph

BEXHILL cricketer Alexia Walker was part of the England women's team that won the U-21 European Championships.

The 19-year-old was vice-captain in the side which travelled to Dublin for the three-day international tournament, with Ireland, Holland and Scotland also taking part.

A delighted Walker said: "It was great to win it. We absolutely annihilated all the other teams."

England eased to victory with an eight-wicket win against Holland, who were bowled out for 55, and a seven-wicket defeat of the hosts who were dismissed for 89. The Scotland match was called off due to rain.

Walker capped a brilliant week by skippering Sussex U-19s to victory over Kent in the Southern Division final on Sunday.

Sussex now meet Yorkshire in the final of the National Championships on August 26.
