Amazing baize play sees thousands raised

PAUL Garland and fellow members of Pulborough Snooker Club held a sponsored 24-hour non-stop marathon on Friday and Saturday in aid of local health screening charity the Mary How Trust for Cancer Prevention.

Paul, from Codmore Hill, Pulborough, who organised the event, knew well that he and his fellow members were up to the task- this is the second time they've raised money for the Maryh How Trust in this way.

He said: "Our first 24-hour marathon raised 1,300 for the Mary How Trust, so we set out to beat that total this year. We've had fantastic support and I'm delighted to say we are on track to raise more than 2,200."

Fourteen members played for the full 24 hours and other people came in to play for a few frames.
