Amex announces darts date

Raymond van Barneveld will be one of the players taking part at the Amex

A NUMBER of the world's best professional darts players are heading to the Amex this year, as it hosts an inaugural major darts event on Sunday April, 17.

Legendary five-time World Champion Raymond van Barneveld (Holland) will be joined by fellow major winners James Wade (England), Robert Thornton (Scotland) and Simon Whitlock (Australia).

Dutch hero who is nicknamed ‘Barney’ - recently reached the semi-finals of the PDC World Championships and is looking forward to the first event at the Amex.

He said: “I’m really looking forward to returning to Brighton with a top line-up of players. All four of us have played there before in the Premier League.

“I always remember the fans being fantastic so I hope that will be replicated at the football stadium. I hear the team is doing well, so hopefully we can entertain the fans too.”

All four players competed at the ongoing 2016 World Darts Championship, with van Barneveld causing a sensation by knocking out tournament favourite Michael van Gerwen in one of the greatest games ever televised, to reach the quarter-finals, while James Wade also reached the last eight.

Tickets for the inaugural Brighton & Hove Albion Darts Masters are available via www.dartshop.tv or by calling the box office on 08450 180 180. The event will begin at 3pm and finish in the early part of the evening.
