Amy targets Olympics with fine performance in France

WEST Sussex dressage rider Amy Stovold is on target for the Olympics after an impressive performance in a CDI event in Saumur, France, where she partnered her exceptional horse MacBrian to finish a good tenth in the Grand Prix and fourth in the Kur freestyle with an excellent 70.65 per cent.

Amy (32), of Cowfold, was thrilled with the performance, having worked hard for years towards her target of being included in the British international squad. This was her first international competition representing Great Britain, with the 13-year-old horse. MacBrian is owned by Julia Jacobs and Maggi Stovold and Amy started dressage with him five years ago.

But her achievement at Samur was overshadowed when she returned home last week to find seven saddles had been stolen from her West Sussex yard during a break-in on Sunday May 2.
