AP McCoy bids for Fontwell double

Champion jockey AP McCoy is booked for two rides in Fontwell Park's seven-race card on Wednesday afternoon.

He is scheduled to be on board the favourite Catspan in the first, the Jan And Cindy’s (Growing Old Disgracefully) Novices’ Handicap Chase, at 2.10pm and 5/1 shot Littledean Jimmy in the next, the Fuller’s London Pride Maiden Hurdle.

Brendan Powell’s Terra Blue could well be among his biggest rivals in the opener while Nicky Henderson’s Pippa Greene is the market leader in the second race.

In all there are 68 scheduled runners across the seven races with decent-sized fields throughout.

In-form jockey-trainer partnership Daryl Jacob and Paul Nicholls team up with Sire Collonges in the 3663 First For Food Beginners’ Chase while Tom Cannon and Chris Gordon, who always seem to have at least one success on each of their visits to Fontwell, go with Manjam in the Harry Latham Memorial Handicap Hurdle.

The same pair might also be worth a look with Owner Occupier in the SIS Live Handicap Chase while the Helen Nelmes-trained The Clyda Rover is likely to be the favourite in the Quick Fire Powered By Microgaming Handicap Chase.

Sussex-based Brave Vic, trained by Gary Moore, shouldn’t be ignored in the last, the Quick Fire Powered By Microgaming Handicap Chase, at 5.25.
