On Tuesday 25th November, for the second year in a row, Ardingly Under 16 girls competed at the Regional Finals Day at Southgate Hockey.

Despite a frustrating first match, a 1-0 defeat by Surbiton High with Ardingly the better team but unable to convert their chances, they went on to beat Bradfield College 6-2. Captain Phoebe Workman opened the scoring against Bradfield and the confidence surged back into this talented team who then defeated a strong team from St George’s College, Weybridge 3-0.

Six points and a healthy goal difference was enough to make Ardingly the Regional Champions.

Ardingly Head of Hockey and former England international, James Stedman, said after the match: ‘To be in the top eight schools in England is a ground-breaking achievement for Ardingly hockey and the National Finals will be a challenge I know these girls will relish They deserve their chance to test themselves against some of the best hockey schools and some of the best hockey players in the whole country.’
