ATHA Showbar hosts boxing night

THE cream of boxing talent from the West Hill Club won't be pulling any punches when they host their annual show at the ATHA Showbar in Bexhill.

Around 15 bouts have been pencilled in for what should be a cracking night's entertainment for fight fans on Saturday December 11.

West Hill coach Dave Bishop said: "All our good boys have been matched up and on paper it's going to be a very good show."

The likes of Jason Brooker, George Chapman and Adam Hanniver will all be in action, with the latter's bout being one to watch as the heavyweight will be up against talented teenager Andrew Gibbons in a repeat of the clash at Bognor's annual show on Thursday, last week. On that occasion the former national schoolboys champion from the host club came out on top by an unanimous decision so Hanniver will be out for revenge.

Also on the bill at Bognor was Chapman who, somewhat controversially lost his bout with Marcus Eaton of Adur & District. Bishop said: "George was relentless with his body shots and really punished Eaton all the way through but lost on a majority decision which was disgusting. Even the home crowd was going wild."

The West Hill show gets under way at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door, priced 10 and 5 (with concessions).
