Badminton ace books place in World Championships

BADMINTON ace Harriett Johnson has been assured of a place in the World Championships to be held in May.

The 22-year-old, who lived in Bexhill until moving to Cardiff last year where she has to reside for 12 months in order to qualify for Welsh citizenship, confirmed her place by virtue of her world ranking which has rocketed up from 170 to 68 in the last six months.

She will compete in the singles and doubles events thanks to a sting of impressive performances on the European Badminton Union circuit including a quarter final appearance in the Polish Open and a last 16 finish in the Croatian Open.
