A total of 325 runners lined up at the start as it began to drizzle, and they then had to contend with a thunderstorm.
The lashing rain didn’t appear to affect Chichester Runners ace Baker, nor the rest of the smiling runners, as they raced along the scenic multi-terrain course on the paths and lanes of Fittleworth.
Susan Scott (Arena 80) was first lady home in 31min 42sec in the race, which is part of the West Sussex Fun Run League.
Sports towels for finishers supplied by ISS Facility Services were a welcome souvenir to commemorate this enjoyable milestone race.
Meanwhile Simon Gill, a member of Bognor-based Tone Zone Runners, followed his fifth-place success at the Arundel 10k with second in the Stansted Park half marathon on Sunday.
The race, previously known as the Stansted Slog, is an off-road gruelling multi-terrain course.
Starting at Stansted Park in awful weather conditions, he finished in an impressive time of 1hr 35min.
Afterwards he said it was the wettest race he had ever taken part in, but he still enjoyed it.
The only other Tone Zone member to take part was Jamie Harris, who finished in 2hr 13min.
