Baker gets England call

Grace Baker has been selected to represent England in an international cross-country match in Spain on Sunday December 16.

Baker’s selection for England will go some way to making up for the disappointment at failing to add another Great Britain vest to her collection.

The 16-year-old Bexhill College student had been on the hunt for a place in Great Britain’s cross-country team for the European Championships in Budapest next month.

Running for first claim club Aldershot, Pett-based Baker came 12th in the under-20 women’s trial in Liverpool last weekend.

Adam Clarke, also running for Aldershot, was confident going into the under-23 men’s event. After a strong start, Clarke faded in the latter part of the race and finished 13th. Fellow St Mary University student Ross Skelton was also in action, finishing 47th in the under-20 men’s race.
