Baker hat-trick cheers Sidley

PETER Baker smashed a hat-trick in the final six minutes to steer Sidley United to a thumping 4-0 win away to Hailsham Town in the Sussex First Division on Tuesday night.

The prolific marksman opened his account with a diving header from a pinpoint Peter Heritage cross.

Baker's second wasn't just the pick of his treble on the night but also possibly of Sidley's season as Graham Morris, Heritage and Shae Spreafico exchanged one-touch passes before the striker finished in style.

A late challenge in the penalty box enabled Baker to complete his hat-trick from the spot and also saw the dismissal of offending Hailsham player.

Sidley had taken the lead on 75 minutes through talented youngster Spreafico.

The win saw The Blues move up to fourth and they will be looking to continue their climb away to Littlehampton Town on Saturday April 20.

They also face two midweek trips - to Hassocks on Monday and Horsham YMCA on Thursday.
