BASKETBALL: Thunder overcome Newcastle

WORTHING THUNDER beat reigning BBL champions Newcastle Eagles on Saturday (December 5) with a 104-90 win.

In a bumper crowd at the Worthing Leisure Centre, Thunder recorded their third win in their last four games.

Thunder were led once again by the excellent Reggie Bratton's 32 points and 10 rebounds, but it was a fantastic all-round team performance as Thunder secured their sixth win of the season.

Thunder head coach Dave Titmuss said: "Our guys really gave Fab Flournoy and the Eagles the respect their Programme deserves and I think that that kept us focused and intense for most of the 40 minutes.

"Obviously, it's a huge win for us and the first time the Thunder has beaten them. It was also the first time since our opening game of the season that we've had our full roster fit.

"I really liked the way we closed the game out, we made some smart defensive plays that triggered an 11-0 run. This is a performance and result that we will build on."
