BASKETBALL: Thunder sign Zabas

WORTHING THUNDER have signed 21-year-old Lithuanian guard Evaldas Zabas following his release from Worcester Wolves.

Thunder fought off competition from other BBL clubs to sign 6ft 2in Zabas and the club hope to get clearance for him to play in Saturday's home game against Leicester Riders.

Zabas averages 20 points a game and 50 per cent from three-point range, and Thunder hope that he will add extra firepower and athleticism to the team.

Thunder head coach Dave Titmuss said: "Evaldas is a young player with great potential and the ability to play at the highest level.

"The difference between him and a lot of other players his age is that he is ready to contribute to the team now, rather than being a development project that needs to be nurtured.

"He will give us a different look and adds some consistent outside shooting to the team, which is an area in which we are struggling."
